Columnar activated carbon, also known as granular activated carbon (GAC) or granulated activated carbon, is a highly porous and adsorbent material widely used in various applications for the purification and treatment of air and water. It is a type of activated carbon that is processed and shaped into cylindrical or granular particles, which provides a large surface area for adsorption.

Activation Process: Activated carbon is created from carbonaceous materials like coal, wood, coconut shells, or other organic substances. It effectively removes impurities and contaminants from gases and liquids by attracting and trapping molecules on its surface. It is highly effective in adsorbing a wide range of substances, including organic compounds, chlorine, volatile organic compounds (VOCs), and odor-causing compounds.

Applications:

Water Treatment: Columnar activated carbon is commonly used in water treatment systems to remove taste, odor, chlorine, and a variety of organic and inorganic contaminants. It can be found in water purification filters and systems.

Air Purification: It is utilized in air filtration systems to eliminate volatile organic compounds, noxious gases, and particulate matter from the air.
