The Feature and Application of Polycrylamide.

The feature and application of Polyacrylamide.
Feature:
1. Flocculation property: PAM promotes the flocculation of suspended particles through electrostatic neutralization and bridge adsorption mechanisms.
2. Adhesiveness: It exhibits adhesive properties through mechanical, physical and chemical interactions.
3. Reduced resistance: PAM significantly reduces the frictional resistance of fluids. Adding the minimum amount of PAM to water can lead to a 50-80% reduction in friction.
4. Thickener: Under neutral and acidic conditions, PAM exhibits thickening properties. When the pH exceeds 10, PAM tends to hydrolyze and adopt a semi-network structure,
thereby enhancing its thickening effect. The viscosity of the aqueous solution is high and can be adjusted by molecular weight and degree of hydrolysis, making it suitable for
thickening or lubricating scenarios.
Application:
1. Wastewater treatment:
(1) Drinking water purification: To remove suspended solids, high-purity PAM should be used.
(2) Sludge conditioning: Reduce the moisture content of sludge to facilitate subsequent treatment (such as centrifugal dewatering).
2. Textile and Dyeing:
(1) Sizing agent: Improves yarn strength;
(2) Wastewater treatment: Decolorization and COD removal.
3. Mining and Metallurgy:
(3) Mineral flotation: As a flocculant to promote the sedimentation of mineral powder; Tailings treatment: Recovery of water and useful components.
4. Sand washing:
(1) Sediment treatment: The sediment and sand after undergoing treatments such as pressure filtration, can be made into mud cakes with a lower moisture content, which can
be used for backfilling and other purposes, reducing pollution to the environment.
(2) Improve production efficiency: Effective wastewater treatment and recycling have reduced the demand for fresh water and improved the operational efficiency of the sand
washing production line.
